I painted this on the Beach Road on Martha's Vineyard. It started out sunny that afternoon when I headed out with the bike and trailer to paint. I watched some endangered Piping Plovers feeding by the water further up the beach. Then rode back towards Edgartown and did this painting. Within an hour the fog was rolling in and I ended up changing my painting from a sunny day by the wild roses. I liked the moodiness of the fog bank and the now emptied beach better for the painting.
The next day arrived with showers and fog. Definitely not a beach day, but I painted in the same area, just across the road at the pond.
