A Red Flag Day indicates prime conditions for high fire risk.  This painting is of a smoky afternoon in Big Cypress where there was a  huge wildfire nearby that had been burning for a week.  It had just rained and you could see the shifts in values through the smoke and drizzle.  A red winged blackbird was singing and flying back and forth between the willowheads.

This painting will be included in the Bonnet House Impressions show, Feb - April 2012.
