I encountered this Barred Owl while slogging through a cypress dome one morning in April. We looked at each other for quite awhile before he took off. I'm glad he posed long enough for me to take some great photographs to use as reference for this painting.
Received Honorable mention in the 2011 Paint the Parks national competition.
