This studio painting is based on the 16 x 20 study from the end of the boardwalk at Kirby Storter in Big Cypress.   In this larger painting, I chose to open up the background more to lead the viewer back into the landscape.  There are already early signs of spring with the willows greening up, but rusty colored needles still hang upon the cypresses.  The low angle of the winter sun lit up both the cypresses and the clouds in the sky with a touch of gold.
